Kettlebell Socks, Poods, and Swings!

Introduction to our Kettlebell Socks
Now check these bad boys out. We know CrossFit people love stripes, but we know they love Kettlebells more. At the So Cal CrossFit regionals, we saw nothing but Kettlebell, Kettlebell, KETTLEBELLS! Being a major part of the workout, and the equipment seen in the gym, the Kettlebell is intrinsic to the CrossFit culture.

What is a POOD?
I started to research about Kettlebells, and a lot of pictures on Google Images came up with the word "Pood". The first idea popped into my head was being 7 and thinking the word POOED was funny. Pood has nothing to do with fecal matter. Well, as a young person of my generation I always consult the most reliable source, wikipedia, when I need to know something. So here is what Wikipedia says about what a POOD is :

Pood (Russianпудpud), is a unit of mass equal to 40 funt (фунт, Russian pound). It is approximately 16.38 kilograms (36.11 pounds).[1] It was used in RussiaBelarus andUkraine. Pood was first mentioned in a number of documents of the 12th century.

Wrapping Up
I understand how this applies to a WOD and I think it's a great exercise. It raises your heartrate, works your core, and trains a lot of muscles within your body. No wonder these CrossFit people are in such impeccable shape.
